On August 26–27, 2025, relentless monsoon rains unleashed catastrophic floods across Punjab, submerging more than 1,300 villages and displacing over 2.5 lakh people. Homes, crops, livelihoods—everything was swept away in hours, leaving thousands with no shelter, no food, and no certainty.
From Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Ferozepur, Amritsar to other rural belts, stories of unimaginable loss are everywhere. “Our house was washed away overnight. We have nothing left but hope,” says Manpreet Kaur from a village near Batala—echoing the collective voice of despair and resilience.
Over 9,000 houses have been damaged or destroyed. As the waters recede, families are left to pick up the pieces—with no roof, no rations, no safety, and urgent needs that cannot wait.
